The Common Sense Option

Well, I have been talking and writing (not on here) a lot about the socialism of the Democrats and the danger it poses to this nation lately. But now the Republicans are in on it to, and that is incredibly disappointing to me. This $700 billion bailout plan is nothing more than throwing socialism on the fire of fear that is sweeping our nation. It is not the governments place to step in and take over businesses that are not smart enough to run themselves without failure. This country has been, and should remain, based on capitalism. But anyway, Dave Ramsey has put together this common sense option that keeps government out of the market, for the most part, and still fixes the problem, for about $650 billion less! At least give it a look, and if you can handle this option, send it to your senators and representatives. I did it this morning at it took about 5 minutes.

Well, I promised that I would post more often this time around. Now I know why I don't. There really isn't anything all that exciting happening in our lives to talk about. I go to work, go home and workout, watch TV, and go to bed. Amanda goes to school, works out, does homework, and goes to bed. I just don't think the 2 or 3 people who look at this blog would find that interesting. So I'll see if I can do a few more exciting things so I have something to write about on here. I hope your life is more exciting than mine!

The WFL

Well, football season is almost upon us, finally. I look forward to this time of year. Although the NFL (go Broncos!!) and College (Boomer Sooner!) are great, I am most excited about the WFL. That is, the Wesleyan Football League. It is a flag football leage that Crash Ministries (the young adult ministry I lead) puts on every fall. It kicks off the 1st Thursday in September. I am excited to get to play this year. Last year I sat out becaue it started just 3 weeks before I was supposed to leave for Officer Candidates School and I didn't want to risk getting hurt. Well, I started this blog to help people stay connected with us and our lives, then I neglected to post anything on it for the past 23 months. My bad. I think blogs are a great way to get to see into the lives of your friends and family, even if you live thousands of miles away. I hope to use this better. So hopefully you will check back in now and then and see what we have going on.

Our New Addition

Well, Amanda and I finally got our new puppy on Sunday, and her name is Latte (no, this is not a shot from the lion king). She is the most incredibly adorable puppy you have ever seen. You hear things like that a lot. Like parent's whose kids really arean't that cute who still say they are the cutest kid ever. But this is true, even if she weren't mine I would still crown her the cutest puppy ever.
Our 1st dog, Mocha, is 10 months old now, and they are full sisters. They are a lab/boxer mix. I will never get another breed of dog now. They are so cute, playful, and smart. Mocha wouldn't hardly look at Latte when we brought her home on Sunday, but now they are the best of friends. Mocha is so gentle with her, she even lets her win the restling matches once in a while. The only problem is that Latte doesn't have much energy yet. Mocha wants to play and play, but Latte only has about 20 minutes of energy between naps! I've been bringing her to my office in the mornings so she can sleep, than I take her home at lunch and she is outside with Mocha all afternoon.
We got a 2nd dog because we felt bad for Mocha being by herself most of the day, our back yard is huge so there is plenty of room for the two of them to run, restle, and play. We have already taken over 100 pictures, so I'll try to keep the number I put on here reasonable, but it's so hard to choose when they are all so cute. I'll put a few on of the two of them together also. I hope some of you can see her in person before she gets all grown up!

My Sister My Hero

Last weekend I was in Chicago. I went to see my little sister graduate from the Navy's Bootcamp. I can't think of a better reason to travel. I wish I could truly express how incredibly proud of her I am. In a span of 9 weeks they transformed her into an amazing young woman.
Growing up she always admired and looked up to me. Now the tables have turned. I truly admire the courage and bravery she shows every day. I was happy to see that the government noticed as well. She, and everyone else graduating that day, had received a patch of bravery and honor because they enlisted during a time of war.
I was so amazed at the change in her. She was quiet, respectful, disciplined, focused, honorable, mature, and committed. I hope as I continue to grow and mature that I can someday be like her. She truly is my hero. I am so incredibly proud to call her my sister. I know she will succeed, because that is what she does. She has already begun to excell and I know it will only get better.
It would be wrong of me to miss this oppertunity to say thank you to everyone else who serves this great nation in the bravest of ways, by serving in one of the branch's of our military. Thank you for what you do to protect my freedoms, and to ensure that everyone else who deserves the same freedoms, has a chance to experience them. At my sisters graduation the speaker said, "you are now members of the strongest, most feared navy in the world. Every other navy dreams and aspires to be you". That gave me goosebumps. I am sure it is the same for every other branch of our military. So continue to live and fight with the pride and courage that is rightfully yours. And thank you for all you do.

America's Pastime? What Were They Thinking?

Ok, so we've probably all heard it said that baseball is way more fun in person, when you're actually at the game. A couple of weeks ago (I know, it still takes me weeks to post, but I am getting better!) Amanda and I went to a Drillers game in Tulsa with a bunch of the college students and we found that really, its not any more fun to actually be there. Take a look at this picture and tell me what you think.

The rest of the game looked just like this, except for a bunch more 0's. The Drillers finally scored a run in the top of the 9th inning to win. I don't know about you, but I just didn't enjoy the 3 hours spent in the heat and humidity. Three minutes of action crammed into three hours.
In baseballs defense, it was only a Drillers game, a minor league team. Maybe a MLB game would be more fun, but I kind of doubt it.
Now I know I've been kind of negative, and hard on baseball, I got to hang out with some of my friends from OWU which was fun. The thing that made setting through the game bearable was the sweet fireworks display that they had after the game. If it hadn't been for that, most of us would have left after the 4th or 5th inning! Here are a couple of pictures of the people and the fireworks that made the baseball game worth going to, and maybe that's why people enjoy it. They enjoy the atmosphere and the people. In the end, it was an alright trip, we did go to starbuck after wards. However, I'm still not convinced that baseball is a real sport!

A Look into Our World.

Well, after realizing how cool it was to be able to get on our friends blogs and see what is happening in their life, even though we are so far away, I realized I need to just suck it up and get one going for our lives so friends and family can see what's up with Amanda and I (and Mocha!). So, I will do my best to stay current so that it's worth checkin out. Tell ya the truth, I'm actually looking forward to this. So stay tuned. Later!
